In this two part blog article we will be conducting a simple , yet thorough, analysis on the different roles that wooden and recycled plastic pallets  play in the global transportation and material handling and storage industry. From the automotive Industry, to the movement of produce and food products, the medical industry ,etc., humans everywhere around the world have stuff that has to move! Our goal here is to educate buyers, by helping them understand the essence of what they are purchasing in the manufacturing and shipping process from start to finish, from its environmental impact, to its relationship to helping your business increase revenue and improve its bottom line, in order that we can best provide a solution that meets your personal transportation and storage needs.

This blog will ultimately exist in three basic parts, we will open by examining what industries use wooden pallets the most and see how they might possibly be productive in global transportation, providing a gloss on the ways in which they are effective, but remain effectively ‘old-world’. Secondly, we will consider the ways in which plastic pallets work in this process along side them, how they satisfactorily meet the same demands of the global transport industry’s shipping and storage needs, and more so, how they do it it more in a more environmentally responsible way and effective way. We will conclude by unabashedly promoting our position on the superiority of plastic pallets holds and its dynamic direction in transforming the transportation industry.

Pallets are an essential part of the process of shipping and storing goods. The two primary materials these storage articles are constituted of are wood and plastic.  Wood pallets usually have a top and bottom deckboard, which are held together by three runners. Most wood pallets are made of decking lumber fastened with either screws or nails, an absolute nightmare for potential on the job injuries. Some wood pallets have panels instead of deckboard strips on top. Here are some of the pros and cons of wooden pallets. Wooden pallets are helpful in the shipping process for some consumers as they have a lower acquisition cost, are repairable with less specialization of labor, and are generally recyclable. This is as much to admit that while the they’re cheap to acquire in the beginning because manufacturing is low, they don’t hold up to the demands of the shipping process over time, and that the argument that they too can be recycled, what left of them makes make it to you holding your precious goods anyways, is bain. If deforestation is an issue it is important to note that Lumber consumption in pallet production is estimated to range between 4.1 and 5 billion board feet in 2016, with a ratio of 45% hardwood and 55% softwood.  According to researchers, pallet production uses 43% of hardwood and 15% of softwood produced in the U.S.Would it be a good time to examine their cons?  The final factor on the pros and cons of wooden pallets pros continue to compile. and plastic pallets only continue to improve more and more superior due to technological achievement. The most prevalent cons of wood pallets are that that they harbor pathogens and other bacteria, are unable to be washed and cleaned, nails, screws and splintered wood make them less safe to handle, creating the possibility for workplace injury, and most importantly, they need to constantly be replaced, as many times they are a single or double use product! And what about the environment?

What are the benefits of plastic pallets, how do their pros outweigh and provide a solution to not only the cons of wooden pallets, but also, how do they surpass the pros of plastic pallets as well? This will be examined and concluded in part two of this ongoing blog next week, because we have a lot to say!
